How do I replace a PDA battery?

Every PDA battery kit includes all the tools you need to replace a PDA battery quickly and easily. In addition to the battery, you'll receive an opening tool and a screwdriver, if necessary. The tools needed to open PDAs vary, therefore the included tools vary by kit.

Every kit comes with detailed instructions. All you need is manual dexterity, familiarity with simple hand tools, and general knowledge of electronic components and you should have no problem replacing a PDA battery.

Before buying the battery, we recommend that you review the replacement instructions. Click the "More Info" tab on the page listing available batteries, and then follow the link to the instructions. Clear instructions are provided in both text and images to help you find the right parts and perform the steps properly.

The following are the basic steps to replacing a PDA battery:

  1. Sync the device to your computer to back up your data.
  2. Remove any screws
  3. Release any locks holding the case together.
  4. Remove the case back.
  5. Disconnect the battery.
  6. Remove it from the case.
  7. Seat the new battery in the case.
  8. Connect the battery cables.
  9. Close the case and insert the screws.

Each battery is delivered discharged, so you will need to charge it for several hours before syncing it to your computer and resuming use.

Some PDAs are more difficult to repair than others. If you don't feel comfortable replacing your battery after reviewing the instructions, we recommend seeking help from a licensed repair person.
