What Kind of Battery Do You Need?
The most important thing to look for when shopping for a new battery for portable DVD use is what devices the battery is compatible with. Note the brand, model, and model number of your DVD player. Make sure to match your model number up with the stated compatibility of any battery before you purchase it, and you will get a battery that works in your device.
DVD Player Battery Technologies
Take a look at the battery that is in your DVD player now. Some players use standard alkaline battery types, such as AA or AAA. These are perhaps the easiest battery types to replace, as they are available at any drug or grocery store. However, as you may know from experience, they certainly do not provide the longest life for your device. If your portable DVD player does require an alkaline battery, consider getting a rechargeable battery as a replacement. While a rechargeable battery will not power your player for a longer period of time than a non-rechargeable battery will, at least you won't have to toss it in the trash every time it runs out of juice.

The longest lasting type of battery for portable DVD use is lithium-ion. These contain the newest technology, so they last longer and provide more power. A Lithium-ion battery also will not suffer from the "memory effect" that eventually reduces the power of any nickel-based battery.
