The chip allows the camcorder to tell you how much recording time you have left.If your Sony device has an info-lithium battery, look for a replacement battery that lists compatibility in the description. Even if the battery looks similar, don't buy it unless the description says it's compatible. To find a compatible battery, you can type "info-lithium" or "infolithium" into the search box and review the list of batteries and images displayed in the search results. You can also click the tab for camcorder batteries. Select "Sony" from the list of options, and then review the list of available batteries for either the name of the device or a battery that looks similar. Each compatible battery will list "info-lithium" or "infolithium" in the description.Depending on the device, regular Li-ion camcorder replacement batteries may work with your camcorder, but some camcorder owners have reported that camcorder replacement batteries from other stores didn't work properly because they weren't info-lithium compatible.
